Well, I’ve made the list for another 2,000 points to back up my Space Marines. I’ve also made a few changes to the Space Marines list aswell, so I’ll post the whole lot up some time this week.
More soon! I promise!
Well, I’ve made the list for another 2,000 points to back up my Space Marines. I’ve also made a few changes to the Space Marines list aswell, so I’ll post the whole lot up some time this week.
More soon! I promise!
I’ve decided I want something different than just another 2,000 point army, so I’m going to make an addendum to my Drop Pod list and make another, oh, shall we say, 3,000 points for playing Apocalypse?
I think it’ll work. 2,000 points of drop pod troops to take objectives, coupled with some super-heavies or even titans to support them in the field! I can feel my wallet crying in anticipation! First update to come shortly I hope!
The Inquisitorial Rhino with Forgeworld doors and hatches is done and looking pretty good! I’ll start getting photos up some time this weekend, I promise! Also the first of my Grey Knights squads is done. I completed the squad of 8 with two Psycannons, a Justicar and a Targetter for long range fire support as the rest of the mechanised army move up. As I said, pictures soon!
So I decided to make a good start on my Daemohunters army this weekend. First up was the Grey Knights Psycannon squad, which is now up and fully running. I am at this very moment working on a Rhino with Inquisitorial markings for my Inquisitor and retinue, so that’s going well aswell. All I need to finish that squad is a couple of mystics and the Inquisitor himself!
Next after that is another Rhino for a Stormtrooper Squad. Originally, I was going to mark up all the vehicles in Inquisitorial markings, but then decided that it stands out better if the other Rhinos are normally built and just painted in colour scheme, while the Inquisitor rolls around in his tricked out ride!
I’m still considering how best to show the Stormtroopers. My first thoughts land on Kasrkin troopers from the Imperial Guard. Any other thoughts out there?
After waiting for the Royal Mail postal strikes to sort out the backlog of mail, my KR Multicases arrived today!
I spent most of a day talking back and forth via e-mails with Daryl Elms, owner of Kaiser Rushforth, the maker of KR Multicase. I sent him my Eagle Warriors army list and conferred with him about how best to carry the miniatures. He replied with suggestions left, right and centre on how to handle things, even going into detail such as the base size of whether I was using old or new-style bases for Terminators!
This man definitely knows his stuff, and I can do nothing but praise him for his cases. They may look just like a cardboard box, but the elegant design and AMAZING strength in the cases allows them to carry more than a usual Games Workshop cases, but remain friendly on the wallet while still looking good! Let’s not forget that every case is 100% customisable based on how you want to pack the foam into the design. Systems ranging from full tank platoons through to infantry-only horde armies can be catered for, and all in the same case! Truly astonishing.
I have just this minute finished fitting my drop pod army into the cases, and am already planning a second order for my upcoming Daemonhunters army. Daryl Elms, as far as I am concerned, can do no wrong. KR Multicases have just earnt themselves a new lifer, and I’m proud to recommend Kaiser Rushforth to all my colleagues and friends.
Recently I came into possession of a batch of models for Lord of the Rings, Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy Battles through a trade I did on WarSeer, a site I am a keen fan of and frequent daily. Unfortunately the Warhammer 40,000 models are all gone now, but a few remain.
The models include limited edition runs of Gimli sitting on a dead Uruk-Hai for LotR and Standard Bearers for the Empire and Bretonnian armies for Warhammer Fantasy Battles. Amongst other things is also a very special limited edition model of the White Dwarf himself.
If anyone is interested in any of these, please click here and take a look. I’m looking for trades if you don’t want to spend money, and you can find them there aswell. Alternatively, you can contact me in the comments section on this post.
The other item I am selling is an EXTREMELY rare model, not of anything Games Workshop-related, but of Starcraft II, and has been sought after for many, many months by people. It is a scale model of Tychus Findlay, the Space Marine for the Terran army who features in the trailer for the new game coming next year. I am not kidding when I say this is not a cheap model, and you can see for yourself from this link (also on WarSeer) what I’m talking about. Please, help yourself to a look, and if you find yourself interested, let me know?
If you would like to see the models and do not have a WarSeer account, please let me know and I can send you the images, or even post them up if you wish (there are quite a few).
I decided tonight to take a break from my ongoing reading of Conquest of Armageddon and have a listen to my first audio book, Heart of Rage. Written by James Swallow, the story centres on a Blood Angels squad who are seconded to the Adeptus Mechanicus for a special mission to capture a half-dead Tyranid Hive ship and find the lost scout team sent in before.
The story is more of a short story, coming in at approximately 75 minutes. Some of the narrative feels drawn out and lengthened, as if the author is trying to stretch out the story for more time. An overabundance of detail where the explanations repeat themselves to give you a mental image of a situation can become grating, and I found myself huffing and sighing repeatedly at these moments.
However, the sequences of interaction between the Blood Angels and the Tyranids are a good environment, aided by the sound effects which, if I’m not mistaken, come from the Dawn of War series of games made by Relic Entertainment.
James Swallow does a good job of giving a sense of claustrophobia in the environment, and the Tyranids come across as they should; an endless horde with malice and pure hive mindedness.
In something of a twist, the Adeptus Mechanicus are more involved than simply wishing to inspect the ship, but I will leave that to you to find out and not ruin the end for you. Suffice to say, overall I would recommend Heart of Rage to anyone who is a fan of Blood Angels or Tyranids (especially Tyranids, due to the twist!). Give it a shot.
Today I got a nice triple-surprise in the post.
First up came Sandy Mitchell’s new novel, Innocence Proves Nothing, the sequel to Scourge the Heretic.
As much as I want to read it, I have a HUGE backlog of books still, and have still not finished reading a whole load of other novels and omnibuses. I am however, piling through books like no tomorrow, with my current reading being Conquest of Armageddon.
Second up for today was my copy of Heart of Rage, the audio book by James Swallow. This is my first audio book, and I’m really looking forward to listening to it. I am also looking for a copy of The Lightning Tower / The Dark King, but I don’t have a huge amount of hope in finding either the novel or the audio book version. We’ll see.
Thirdly, but not by any means any less important, came a copy of a book I have been looking for for a VERY long time. Space Marine by Ian Watson, effectively the first book ever written in the Black Library publishing arm. I managed to nab a copy after swapping one of my old Sicarius models for it (You know, the one with the pair of lightning claws).
So yeah, all in all, a good day. Now, back to reading. 30-odd books left to go…
So here we are, I finally caved in and got a blog! I’m still working on it at the moment, but you can expect to see reports on games I play, armies I model and paint and scenery I work on aswell, aswell as novels I’m into at the moment and any general 40k news that grabs my attention!
More soon!
